An AI/ML research desk for MLB bettors.

One person. Ask any question about any game in plain English — verified stats, model reads vs the market, matchup context, line movement. The analytical edge, you make the call.

What this is

Closerbets is a one-person AI/ML research desk for MLB. The premise is simple: we don't sell picks — we give you the analytical edge to make your own calls. Ask any question about any game in plain English and get a verified answer with the data behind it.

Under the hood: a reconciled, source-verified MLB dataset (every stat checked against the canonical source before it's served), a natural-language query engine that writes and runs the SQL for you and shows its work, model reads compared against the market line, and line movement tracked from open to close across sharp books.

The honest version: an efficient market is hard to beat, so we don't pretend to. What we do well is surface the context — matchup, splits, form, where the model disagrees with the market and why — faster and more transparently than digging it out yourself. The edge is yours to take.

Everything runs in Discord — /ask, /line, /matchup — and the model itself is documented on /methodology.

Why a research desk, not picks

Closerbets started as a daily picks model. A long forward test was decisive: the model has no demonstrable edge over the sharp closing line — the market is simply too efficient. Rather than keep selling picks that don't beat the close, the project pivoted to the part that does hold up: fast, verified research and transparent model reads.

That history is documented openly rather than buried — /methodologycovers what the model is, what it isn't, and why it's now a research tool rather than a tipsheet.

What you can verify

Data correctness is the product, so it's checkable. Two places to look:

Research
Shadow markets the model tracks but doesn't bet — settled results and where the read landed.
Methodology
What the model is, what it isn't, and why it no longer ships picks.

Inquiries

The site is informational and the Discord is open. Two kinds of message are especially welcome:

Bettors & analysts
Questions, methodology critique, feature suggestions.
Press
Happy to share more detail on the underlying model.

One inbox for all of the above: hello@closerbets.com.
